- Reminder Back to School night this Thursday at East Penn Elementary from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Any available scout that can attend to recruit other boys for the pack please contact cubmaster Mike Weaver at 761-1696.
- Pack 89 is doing a community service project called "Toss your Gloss" program. All magazines and the glossy advertisements from the newspaper can be placed in the large container. The container is located at Kmart Parkling Lot at Summerdale Plaza in Summerdale Plaza on 11/15 in Enola. The proceeds that are made go to the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey. Let's try and help them out with wonderful project.
- Strasburg Railroad- The prices goes as follows: Scout $15.00 (pack will pay $8.00 of this amount), Den Leader and assistant Den Leaders $19.00, Adults (12 and over) $24.00, and Siblings (3-11) $17.00. The discount only applies to the cub scout enrolled in pack 285 currently. We are still planning this event for October 27th. The activities at Strasburg Railroad includes one ride aboard a Coach Car; unlimited rides aboard Cagney Train, Pump car, and Cranky car; unlimited access to switch tower and freight equipment display; and the ride from Strasburg Railroad to the Cherry Crest Farm. The activities at the farm include: admission to the farm; amazing Maize maze; farm animal center; logic mazes; hayride; farm tour wagon ride; jump pillow; hay slide; and other fall harvest festivities. There are some additional costs for food, pick your own pumpkin, and scarecrow making. Money for this event will be due on October 9th. Jen is confirming the prices include tax so they may go up slightly and she is also going to double check what all is included and the times of operation.
- Den Leaders- Awards are due to Jen by the 10/9 den meeting for the 10/16 pack meeting at the fire hall. Make sure you give her what is needed. She will also be getting the pinewood derby cars to be handed out at the 10/16 meeting.
- It was suggested last year that the pack invest in plastic storage tubs to organize and store all the paper goods and other items we use for winter camp and pack meetings. Stacy saw in the Target flyer this Sunday that they have 18 gallons plastic tubs on sale 4 for $15.00. Jen is going to go to Target to purchase them so we can organize the shed. The committee approved spending the money to get them.
- Popcorn orders and buyout money or partial buyout money is due at the 10/16 pack meeting.
- The next committee meeting is 10/22 at the Church starting at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. We are still in need of a Treasury and Secretary for next year and we are currently in need of an assistant cubmaster. Please see anyone of the committee members or cubmaster Mike Weaver if you are interested. Volunteering is a great way to be a part of your child's life and extra-curricular activities.
- Lisa Raves received a letter from the Hershey Bears about scout night. They have 4 different nights available: Sunday, October 28th, Saturday, December 29th, Saturday, February 2nd, and Saturday, April 5th. The pack would like to see if there is an interest in the April 5th date due to this is a sleepover for the scouts in the Giant Center. The price per scout is $40.00 and this will include a game ticket (seating in the 100 level), Giant Center meal voucher, 32 oz souviner cup, Hershey Bears Scout patch, one parking pass for every 4th person, post game activities and entertainment, and a hot breakfast on Sunday morning. We need at least 15 people to attend. If you would like to attend only the game that evening we still need the 15 people but the cost of the game would be $16.00. We will have a sign up sheet at the 10/2 den meeting to see if there is interest. We would like to move on this quickly as this night fills up. This is a great oppurtunity for our cub pack. Lisa is going to confirm if adult leader or parent chaperon's if their price is also $40.00.
- We adjourned the meeting around 8:15 p.m.
